John

Restoring Dignity Through Practical Support

John (not his real name) was living with the daily challenges of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a condition that gradually affected movement and independence. After a thorough assessment with his Palliative Care team, it became clear that urgent changes were needed to his home environment to ensure his safety and comfort.

While local authorities were only able to offer basic equipment—specifically a hoist to assist Paul in accessing his bath—this solution fell far short of what John truly needed. Understandably, the idea of relying on a hoist for something as personal as bathing was distressing for him and his family. They hoped for a solution that would not only meet his physical needs but also preserve his dignity and allow him a greater sense of independence.

That’s when The Robert Sinclair Davidson Foundation stepped in.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we were able to fully fund the installation of a purpose-built wet room in John's home. This new space transformed his daily life, allowing him to carry out essential tasks with greater ease and comfort.

John's wife shared her gratitude with us, saying:
“We are so grateful to you all for enabling us to get this done. It will help John so much. Massive thanks from me, John and the boys.”

It’s because of our RSDF community—those who fundraise, donate, and spread the word—that we can respond swiftly and compassionately to urgent needs like John’s. This project is more than just a building modification; it’s a reflection of the care, dignity, and humanity we strive to deliver with every act of support
